Lunch Period: 11:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. 

  • Lunch 1 (K, 1, 2, 3) 11:45 a.m. - 12:07 p.m. (eat first, then play)
  • Lunch 2 (4, 5, & 6) 12:07 p.m. - 12:30 p.m. (play first, then eat)

Dismissal: 2:30 p.m.

Pick-Up and Drop-Off Procedures and Guidelines
 
Del Mar Heights’ enrollment is bigger than ever and we need your help to keep the school and your children safe. EVERY child’s safety is important to us. We ask everyone to follow our pick-up and drop-off procedures. Failure to do so creates chaos, frustration, and unsafe conditions. Please discuss these procedures with your children. Thank you for your continuing support in making Del Mar Heights School a safe and productive environment for all.

At the end of Mira Montana there is a gate accessible for drop-off and dismissal. This is a great alternative location for families who wish to avoid the traffic at the front of school. This gate is supervised for 15 minutes before and after school each day. 

We always need parent volunteers during the half hour before drop off and the half hour after dismissal. If you are interested in volunteering, email Dana Arnold

While driving only hands-free cell phone use is allowed. It’s the law.

Morning Supervision

  • For children in grades 1 through 6, supervision begins at 7:15 am each morning.
  • Each morning, both blacktops and the Research Lab are open.
  • Supervision for kindergarteners begins at 7:45 am.

Car Drop-Off

  • When dropping your child off, stay in the car. We have valets working every morning to assist your child.
  • Children should unload from the PASSENGER SIDE of the vehicle only.
  • Keep pulling forward and fill in all gaps in Drop Off Lane.
  • Have all school materials, including backpacks and lunches, ready before your children exit the vehicle.

Car Pick-Up

  • Tell your child in advance what their dismissal plan will be.
  • During car pick-up dismissal, children will be behind the fences in grade-level groups. 
  • Staff members on duty will call children from the dismissal waiting areas.

Walkers

  • If you are walking to pick up your child, meet him/her at the gate next to the Kindergarten Garden.
  • Walk on the west side of Boquita. There is no crosswalk from the east side of Boquita onto the school site. If you need to cross, use the crosswalk at Cordero.

General Precautions

  • Be your child’s best example. Be courteous and follow all safety guidelines and traffic laws at all times.
  • Be patient!  You are training your child on how to follow rules and laws by the example you set.
  • Do not make U-turns on Boquita or Cordero during drop off or dismissal. It creates unsafe conditions and causes additional traffic. 
  • Our local streets are very narrow. Drive slowly and watch for children!
  • Dogs are never permitted on the campus.

General Campus Procedures

  • If your child is tardy, he/she must sign-in and get a tardy slip from the office. Parents do not need to accompany their children to the office if they are late.
  • When picking your children up early, you will need to sign in and pick them up from their classrooms. Unless you have already communicated and confirmed with your child’s teacher, homework will not be available until the next day.
  • All gates onto campus are locked during school hours.
  • All adults are required to sign in at the front office prior to entering the school campus during school hours.
  • All adults must exit through the school office when leaving during school hours.
