JR OLYMPICS IS COMING SOON!
The Jr. Olympics Skills Competition is a free skills competition that provides boys and girls, ages 8 to 13, the opportunity to showcase their athletic abilities in four (4) sports - basketball, soccer, tennis and track & field (50 meter dash and standing broad jump). The Jr. Olympic Skills Competition event at CDM will take place on Wednesday, March 17th after school from 12:45-2:30 p.m. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each sport, each age group, and each gender will receive a ribbon for their accomplishment. The 1st place winners will also be invited to compete at the DMUSD district competition against other students in our district. Participation in this event is voluntary. Students can participate in any or all of the individual sports. Each sport is scored individually, boys and girls compete separately, and age groups are broken down as follows (age is determined as of August 31, 2010): 8-9, 10-11, 12-13. However, for those students who wish to participate, they must return a parent-signed registration form, by March 10. Registration forms are available at the front office or in the Wednesday folder on the CDM website. We need parent volunteers to help run the event on March 17th. If interested in volunteering, or for more information, please contact Katharin Roth, at kroth@dmusd.org, or (858) 481-6789, ext 3526.

JOG-A-THON RAISES $32,523!!! ALL MONEY DUE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!
After a rain delay of one week, the JOG-A-THON went off without a hitch. Perfect running weather brought out the best in all the students and teachers. Many laps were run, many oranges eaten, and many cups of water consumed. Thank you to all volunteers. This event requires many helping hands and the turnout was excellent. It is time to collect and turn in all pledge money. Remember, funds raised in the JOG-A-THON go to support the Del Mar Schools Education Foundation and their efforts to maintain our ESC programs (science, technology, art, music, and physical education) at current levels. The deadline for turning in JOG-A-THON money is Wednesday, February 10. We have a tight deadline due to the February 15th deadline for the Del Mar Schools Education Foundation to turn their money into the district. Thank you for your support.

GO GREEN AT CARMEL DEL MAR SCHOOL!!
CDM’s Green Team wants to remind you that one of our environmental goals for our school is to reduce the amount of trash we produce. A simple way to do this is to use reusable containers in our lunches. Please join us in our efforts to reduce trash by supporting our sale of 2 environmentally friendly items: reusable stainless steel bottles and Wrap-n-mats (reusable sandwich wrap and placemat all in one). Both items will help you to pack that waste-free lunch. Please see the Wednesday folder on CDM’s website, or PTA website, for printable order forms for both products.
