Del Mar Hills Congratulates the Class of 2008!
On Thursday morning, June 12, 2008, Del Mar Hills Academy promoted its 39th sixth grade class on to middle school. Although united by the wondorous years of elementary school, our students will go in many different directions as they continue their academic journey...Earl Warren and Carmel Valley Middle Schools, Bishops, Grauer, SD Jewish Academy, and La Jolla Counrty Day. Sixty-three of our now alumni sang, danced, performed piano and orchestra selections and read incredibly insightful speeches (see "Laurie blog" to the left). We wish them well as they move forward and continue the tradition of excellence and achievement that is the legacy of the Hills!

6th graders had an AWESOME time at Camp Marston!
Mrs. Warren visited camp on Tuesday and our sixth graders did quite well! Staff is impressed with Camp Marston...even the food is good! Mrs. Warren reported that the students were very excited about the activities: a night hike, canoeing, rock climbing, outdoor cooking, and skit night. She took some great pictures (see our gallery). Mrs. Francis and Mrs. Swanberg visited on Wednesday with lots of mail from our parents! We will post more pictures. Ah, the elementary school years!

Young Poets at the Hills!
Congratulations to our sixth grade students and teachers for an extraordinary Poetry Night! We especially appreciate Mrs. Burress' time and talent with regard to working tirelessly in our sixth classrooms over the past months to provide poetry workshops for our students. Her involvement with the San Diego Writing project and collaboration with our teacher and students resulted in an Antholgy of Poems: The Wave that will be treasured for years to come. We also enjoyed the addition of the I-movie component to our students poetry presentations. Please visit the web site: The Del Mar Writing Project: http://waveananthology.blogspot.com for a sampling of some of the fine poetry from our Class of 2008! The book is also on the main Poetry At The Hills site: http://poetryatthehills.blogspot.com. When you click on the tiny slide show it will open a larger screen. On the right hand column click on "Slide Show".
