Ocean Air would like to honor Mr. Dave Macias as our April Employee of the Month. Dave helped us open the DMUSD's newest school last August, and worked tirelessly to make sure everything ran smoothly on the first day of school. Because of his loyalty, dedication, and team spirit, we have had a very successful year here at Ocean Air. Dave cares about kids, teachers, parents, and staff, and works everyday to assist all who walk through our campus doors. We appreciate Dave Macias, and want to congratulate him on being our April employee of the month.Ocean Air wishes to honor Mrs. Jodi Neilson, our Music Specialist as the District Employee of the Month. Mrs. Neilson has been a Music Specialist in our District for the past 8 years, and was instrumental in designing the Del Mar Hills Academy, as well as assisting in opening the new Ocean Air School last August. Her positive presence, strong work ethic, team spirit, and dedication to students is noteworthy. Jodi offers band and chorus to over 200 students in grades 4-6, and teaches wonderful general music lessons weekly to all our K-6 grade students. She organizes our assemblies, is an advisor for the Student Council, and serves as the Administrator in charge when Mr. Wilson is off campus. Everyone from staff, teachers, parents, and students all love Mrs. Neilson. We are proud of her accomplishments, and having the opportunity to work with her daily.CONGRATULATIONS to Mrs. Tanya Lubomudrov for being nominated for Teacher of the Year! Tanya was nominated by her peers for this prestigious award, and we are very proud!!
The City of San Diego has begun work on the new Ocean Air Park. Congratulations to our school families and the community for continuing to be proactive in their desire to build our community park as soon as possible. Parkwest Construction has advised us that the fields should be ready for our use sometime before January, 2009. The entire project should take a year to complete, but the play fields and grass field will be built first. The pathway open on Nantucket Parkway will be closed after school is out so that the contractor can access the utilities and water supply to complete the project. We are hoping that the pathway will be open in late August so kids and families will have a way to access the school without going around Carmel Mountain Road and Canter Heights drive. This will all be resolved when the park is complete. Please watch our website for future updates this summer.
