Dear Ocean Air Families,
As new principal of Ocean Air School, I would like to take this opportunity to personally extend my warmest greetings. I trust that each of you are looking forward to a restful winter break with your family and friends and will be ready to begin a new year - 2010 will be great! Ocean Air School is truly an outstanding place of learning and I am thrilled to serve as the principal of this fine school, in this amazing school community. It is my pledge to work closely with all of you and our entire staff to continue to provide the highest quality learning environment possible for your child.
During my career I have been an educator at the classroom, school, district, and university level. Most recently I served as Assistant Principal at Sage Canyon School. Before coming to the Del Mar Union School District, I was a teacher on special assignment for the Poway Unified School District where I provided staff development for teachers and administrators in the areas of early literacy, early intervention, and assessment. As both Sage Canyon and Ocean Air share the same wonderful school community and neighborhood, by reputation, I feel as if I already know so much about you and your children.
I strongly believe the education of your child is a three-way partnership between the school, parent and child. This partnership is the backbone of what makes the Del Mar Union School District and Ocean Air School so special and unique. Working together, we can make a powerful and positive difference in the life of your child.
In January I will be sending you information about several formal, structured opportunities for you to meet me, as well as for me to get to know you and your thoughts about Ocean Air School. In the meantime, I look forward to all the informal opportunities each and every day on campus for us to chat and get to know each other. Please introduce yourself and your family and I promise to do my very best to remember who you are and who you belong to!
