Teacher of the Year - Jim Gianola
It is with great pleasure that we celebrate Mr. Jim Gianola as the 2009 DMUSD Teacher of the Year.
Jim has been a teacher since 1983, and for the last 19 years has served the students of the Del Mar Union School District with distinction. During this time he has taught 3rd and 6th grade at Del Mar Hills, and for the past 9 years has served as the Technology Teacher at Del Mar Hills, Torrey Hills and Ocean Air Schools.
As a site technology teacher, Jim works with all the students at his school and is committed to giving them instruction on the latest in Technology. He also works with a student video club that produces a regular program of news and features that are viewed school wide by students and staff.
Jim coordinates the use of technology instruction with the classroom teachers and provides training and support. When it comes to helping solve a problem, Jim is always there with a smile and a solution. He has also supported teachers as a master teacher and mentor and has served on numerous school and District committees over the years. He has a great talent for seeing multiple sides of an issue and can help others see perspectives that otherwise could be overlooked in a diplomatic and often humorous way.
Mr. Jim Gianola is an outstanding representative for DMUSD Teacher of the Year.
