Torrey Hills' Students Spread Love at Carmel Valley Senior Home
On Wednesday, February 10th, the Torrey Hills' Student Council traveled to Emeritus Senior Home in Carmel Valley to deliver Valentine's Day cards and to sing some love song favorites to the residents there.
The students were excited about this service project and enjoyed learning the songs "Love Me Do", "My Guy", and "Happy Together". The homemade Valentines were appreciated by the residents, who clapped and sang along to the music.
Student Council is comprised of twenty 5th and 6th graders who apply to participate in the beginning of the year. The focus of Student Council is school spirit, leadership skills, and community outreach. This is Torrey Hills second Student Council service project this year!

Employee of the Month
Congratulations to our teachers who have been recognized this year as Employee of the Month. Mrs Paster, Mrs. Scott, and Ms. Grosso consistently demonstrate the qualities that we find in all our wonderful Torrey Hills teachers. They have team spirit, and contribute to the school goals. They are positive leaders among their grade levels and give their time to schoolwide projects. Mrs. Paster, Mrs. Scott and Ms. Grosso make strong connections with students and parents. Their students make excellent progress because like all Torrey Hills teachers, they make learning fun.

Employee of the Month
Congratulations Terri O’Brien, Employee of the Month Terri O’Brien has been the Torrey Hills librarian since August 2008. She loves children’s books and works hard to make the library an enriching and inviting place for all students. When Terri isn’t encouraging students to select and read their favorite books she decorates the library with seasonal pictures that invite students into the beautiful, sunlit room. Students even notice how nice the library smells. Terri would love to have Open Library every day at 12:00 to invite students to choose and read books. She helps the school as a noon duty supervisor until we have enough volunteers so she can be in the library every day during lunchtime. In addition to being a valued Torrey Hills staff member, Terri is the proud mom of two lovely daughters. One is a student at Carmel Valley Middle School. The other attends Torrey Hills as a 4th grader.

KinderGuides Comes to Torrey Hills
Torrey Hills now has KinderGuides to help make the drop-off process easier for parents! Kinder Guides are 5th & 6th grade student volunteers who accompany our kindergarten and first grade students to their playground each morning from 7:45 until first bell. These student leaders will be wearing a green vest and a Kinder Guide nametag and will be stationed near the bicycle racks near the lower grade drop off area. Make sure you check out this great service!
