PeaceBuilders
PeaceBuilders is a research-based program that Torrey Hills started to implement during the 2006-07 school year. Each year we continue to teach students how to behave as PeaceBuilders. During morning announcements each day, we say the PeaceBuilders Pledge following the Pledge of Allegiance. Schoolwide assemblies and weekly classroom lessons are designed to promote PeaceBuilder's behaviors. We are confident that PeaceBuilders will complement Character Counts! and enhance our positive school climate.
PeaceBuilders promotes positive interactions with others while preventing violence. Teachers incorporate six behaviors into their classrooms that evoke a core sense of safety, belonging, support, and competence to deal with life’s inevitable complications and challenges.
The six behaviors are:
Praise people
Give up put-downs
Seek wise people
Notice hurts
Right wrongs
Help others
