Scott Wooden, Ph.D.
Terms: 2010-2014, 2014-2018, 2018-2022, 2022-2026
Scott and his wife Victoria have lived in Carmel Valley since 2002 when they moved from Thousand Oaks, CA. They chose this area due to the quality of the school district. They currently have two children who attended and promoted from Ocean Air School.
Scott is a native of New York State. He attended public schools in Michigan, New York, Tennessee and Virginia. He went on to receive a B.S. from the University of Virginia in Biology and a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California in Biochemistry. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the laboratories of Drs. Joseph Goldstein and Michael Brown at the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Wooden has worked at biotech companies Amgen and Applied Molecular Evolution (AME), is an author on many research articles and patents and has presented his work at international meetings. He worked at Eli Lilly & Company as the Director of the Protein Biosciences group since Lilly’s acquisition of AME in 2004 and he is a private business owner.
Community Service:
Scott was a board member and President of the Torrey Woods Estates HOA for three years. He served as President and Vice President of the USC Graduate Association, as President and VP of Membership for the Conejo Valley Ski Club and as a representative to the LA Council of Ski Clubs. He and his family are parishioners at St. Therese of Carmel Church. Dr. Wooden plays an active role in the Ecke Y Adventure Guides and Princess programs and has served as tribal chief for the Shawridge Princess tribe. 
Board Responsibilities:
Scott was elected to the School Board in November 2010 and is currently serving his fourth term. Dr. Wooden served as Board President in 2012. He has served several years as Board Clerk.  He is currently serving as Board Representative to the Legislative Action Network (LAN) and alternates with other members as Board Liaison to the Del Mar Schools Education Foundation (DMSEF).
