• STUDENT COUNCIL POSITIONS 2019-2020

    The Student Council Officers will serve their office for the entire year. 
     
    President (6th only)
    • Represent the student body at school, district, and community meetings
    • Lead all student council meeting
    • Give assistance, guidance, and praise
    • Act as facilitator during student council discussions
    • Maintain frequent contact with faculty and administration
    • Work with advisor on all planning
    • Votes when there is a tie
    • Provide an end of the year speech at 6th grade promotion in June
    • Participate in monthly Surfrider Assemblies
    • Participate in most, if not ALL, school and student council activities/events
    • Responsible for all-school morning announcements
    • Conducts him/herself with academic integrity and exemplary conduct

     

    Vice President (6th Only)

    • Represent the student body at school, district, and community meetings (as requested)
    • Works closely with, and serves in the absence of, the President
    • Coordinates the work of committees
    • Works with advisor and President to prepare calendar
    • Participate in monthly Surfrider Assemblies
    • Participate in most, if not ALL, school and student council activities/events
    • Responsible for all-school morning announcement
    • Conducts him/herself with academic integrity and exemplary conduct

     

    Secretary (6th Only)

    • Keeps accurate minutes of meetings
    • Keeps accurate account of attendance at every meeting
    • Responsible for notifying faculty of representatives that miss meetings
    • Handles all council correspondence
    • Helps maintain student council files
    • Maintain contact information for people who work with the council
    • Responsible for “Thank You” cards
    • Participate in monthly Surfrider Assemblies
    •  Participate in most, if not ALL, school and student council activities/events
    •  Responsible for all-school morning announcements
    • Conducts him/herself with academic integrity and exemplary conduct

     

    Public Relations Director (5th Only)

    • Keep student body informed of events, fundraisers, and service projects
    • Obtains approval for events
    • Responsible for communication between school and student council
    • Helps out with activities during the Surfrider Assemblies
    • Helps to run student council section of the Surfrider website
    • Participate in monthly Surfrider Assemblies
    • Participate in most, if not ALL, school and student council activities/event
    • Responsible for all-school morning announcements
    • Conducts him/herself with academic integrity and exemplary conduct

     

    COMMISSIONER OF SPIRIT (5th Only)

    •  Review suggested spirit days submitted by students
    •  Report and record votes for spirit days to officers
    •  Plan and calendar all school spirit activities and communicate these with the Public Relation Director.
    •  Create and post signs to remind students of upcoming spirit days
    •  Capture school spirit through various media (video, pictures, etc)

     

    COMMISSIONER OF COMMUNITY SERVICE (5th Only)

    • Help plan and coordinate service projects, donation drives, & awareness programs
    • Coordinate with Mrs. Ilkhanipour and Mrs. Scholz on various projects
    • Communicate with and assist the Public Relations Director

     

    Class Representatives (grades 3rd-6th)

    • Attend student council meetings and report back to classrooms.
    • Report class feedback to the council.
    • Participate in most, if not ALL, school and student council activities/events
    • Conducts him/herself with academic integrity and exemplary conduct.
