• Getting to Know the Basics of Google Earth

  • Google Earth is an amazing instructional tool to show place and progress over time. Within Google Earth, you can create:
    • Sightseeing tours of various landmarks
    • Literature trips to show the travel of a character in a book
    • Visual awareness of size and location of geographic features
    • Visual awareness of where you are in relation to other landmarks
    There are many resources available including already created Lit Trips and Sightseeing Tours, so don't panic about trying to invent them yourself.

    Can save maps and routes for future use  Can save maps and routes for future use as movie

     Can use the link to share Can save tour as .kmz or .kml file to share
    Students can create using their Google Apps account. Students can create in Lab and save as a file.


    The Basics- Google Earth

     

    1. Download and install.

    Click here to see a short video about downloading and installing Google Earth. 
     

    2. Look at the interface.

     
     3. Find your house by typing the address into the “Fly To” box and click the magnifying glass or press Return.  
     4. Check out the 5 Easy Things to Do with Google Earth.
