All About Ms. Kris Pike...
Ms. Pike is originally from the midwest where she was born and grew up.
She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education with a Minor in Child Development from Iowa State University. She has her Master of Arts Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Point Loma Nazarene University. She also holds specialized certificates in CLAD and GATE Instruction.
Ms. Pike has been teaching for 30 years. She began her career teaching first grade in a suburb of Kansas City. After two years, she moved to Del Mar where she has taught fourth grade, sixth grade, and third grade. Fifth grade has always been a "dream grade" for her to teach, so she is very excited to be taking on her seventh year at this grade level!
Ms. Pike has two children - a 20-year-old daughter, Chandler, and a 19-year-old son, Tucker, a junior and sophomore both attending Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. (Go Mustangs!) Both attended Ashley Falls for elementary school, as well as Carmel Valley Middle School, and Torrey Pines High School. She lives in the neighborhood and can often be seen out and about in the community.
In what little free time she has, Ms. Pike likes to hike Torrey Pines, do yoga, read, shop, go to movies, sporting events, and concerts, and spend time with family and friends. She is also busy renovating her new "empty nest".
Ms. Pike LOVES teaching and is excited to spend an exciting year of learning and growing with all of her awesome students!
