My name is Alexandra Denney and I am entering my 3rd year of teaching. I was fortunate enough to start my teaching career encircled by the amazing team at Sycamore Ridge School. Teaching has always been a passion of mine. In May 2016, I graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education and Special Education K-6 from Indiana University. I received a very comprehensive education in the four years at IU; my experience ranged from working with students in grades K-5 over four years. I student taught at Edgewood Primary School in Ellettsville, Indiana. There I worked in a second-grade general education classroom and then was lucky to have the opportunity to be an advocate for students in the resource room. My hope in the future is to pursue a Master’s Degree.
I grew up in Naperville, IL with my parents and four brothers. In August of 2016, I moved to Carlsbad, California. I married my best friend, Joey, in April of 2017. He recently was discharged from U.S. Marine Corps after serving for the past six years. When I am not teaching I enjoy hot yoga, visiting with friends, and planning trips to visit my family in Illinois.
It has been an exciting summer! We welcomed a new member to our family, Neela. She is a miniature Australian Shepard. Neela loves the dog park and playing in water. She sometimes even splashes in her water bowl! I also became an aunt in August. My brother had a baby boy named Derek. I was lucky enough to travel back home to Illinois to see him.
I am looking forward to a fantastic year full of exploring, learning, and growing together. I love to hear from parents throughout the year. I encourage you to contact me with any questions you may have.
