Del Mar Heights Science LabIn 2002, the Del Mar Heights principal hosted a series of parent and community meetings to share the importance of hands-on science instruction for elementary aged students. Of special note was the mandate to provide stimulating science experiences to young girls during their formative years. Subsequently, the school community fund raised to reconfigure a classroom into a dedicated Science Lab of Inquiry. Additional money was raised to provide materials and resources to create a lab environment that challenges students to questions, think, and experiment.
All students participate in hands-on science experiences weekly in our Lab of Inquiry, with teacher Kathy Minarik. In the Lab, science, engineering, and math are integrated to create meaningful and rigorous learning experiences for our students.
