Ms. Katy Walser

Originally from a small town in the eastern part of Long Island, N.Y I went to school at the University of Rhode Island to receive my bachelor’s degree in Education. Shortly after, I made the cross country move to Southern California to attend the University of San Diego for my masters and credential in Special Education. My first two years as a Special Education teacher, I was the special day elementary teacher at Aseltine- a private special education school located in Hillcrest, San Diego-that serves students whose educational and emotional needs are not met in traditional settings. This is my third year teaching at Ashley Falls Elementary and I couldn't be more excited!

I chose a job that I love and found my niche in the special education setting. I believe that each child is unique, and each child learns in a different way. One of my jobs as a teacher is to help your child discover his or her individuality and work alongside with them to maximize it. I believe in hands-on experiences and learning creatively. It is my goal to create a community of learners who are committed to working hard and having fun. I want students to leave my classroom feeling confident that they can apply what they’ve learned in school to real-life situations. I want my students to feel challenged and to have an enhanced passion for learning.

I love living in sunny San Diego where I can always enjoy the great weather! During my free time I love to go to the beach, surf, run, stay active, but I also enjoy relaxing and reading a good book. I love spending time with my family who live on Long Island and I love traveling to visit them during my time off!
