Raptor Visitor Management System

Dear Parent or Guardian,

The Del Mar Union School District considers the health and safety of our students and staff to be our highest priority.  For the increased safety of your child, the Del Mar Union School District uses a visitor management system.  The purpose of this system is to ensure that we have an accurate record of campus visitors, and that individuals visiting our schools are authorized to do so.

Every visitor will be asked to present a government issued identification to the front office staff in order to access the campus or to sign-out a student before dismissal.  Accepted forms of identification are:

·       Any state issued driver’s license or identification card

·       Mexican Matrícular Consular card

·       Military ID (active duty or retired)

·       Permanent resident card

·       Passport (or other form of identification as approved by the Principal).

The front office staff will scan the visitor’s identification and the Raptor system will instantly check the name against a national database of registered sex offenders.  Identification of registered sex offenders is made by comparison of the names, dates of birth, and photographs from the information posted by the national database of registered sex offenders and the information provided by the visitor.  Once cleared, the Raptor system will print a visitor’s badge showing the visitor’s name, photograph, and destination on campus.  It is important to note that the Raptor system only scans the visitor’s name, date of birth and photograph.  The scanned information that becomes available to the Del Mar Union School District is handled as confidential information and is stored on a secure web-based system.  Other than the name, date of birth, and photograph, no additional information is gathered or stored from the identification.

You will not be required to complete this process if you are simply dropping off or picking up an item in the office.  If the purpose of your visit is to sign-out a student prior to dismissal, visit a location on campus, or volunteer in a classroom, then you will need to have your identification scanned.  However, you only need to scan your identification once as the system will save your name, date of birth, and photograph for future visits.

If you currently do not have a government issued form of identification, the following resources may assist you:

·       CA License visit a local DMV office or go to

·       For a Mexican Matrícular Consular card please visit a consular office. The card is issued without regard to immigration status and provides no immigration information.

·       For a Military ID card please go to

·       For a Permanent Resident Card please go to

Please know that we are committed to providing the same warm and welcoming environment our families have come to expect from Del Mar schools.  Parents have a right to participate in their child’s education and are encouraged to continue to be involved in school activities.  If you have any questions or concerns about the implementation of this system, please contact your child’s Principal.  For more information on the Raptor Visitor Management System, please visit
