Superintendent Message - Update on In-Person School

Dear DMUSD Families,

Yesterday was the first day of school and it was a success for students throughout our district in Launch distance learning and in-person remote learning!  It was a different kind of “first day” than we have ever had before!  Teachers, support staff, and principals were eager and happy to see our students again!

San Diego County is officially off the state watch list, and it is anticipated that the trend will continue and all San Diego County schools will be permitted to reopen on September 1st.  In DMUSD, we will open to in-person instruction on Tuesday, September 8th.  In addition, a waiver was approved by the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency and California Department of Public Health for DMUSD to open.

Our district’s planning for a safe reopening has been occurring for months, and we continue to work closely with HHSA and physicians as we prepare to safely reopen. We look forward to welcoming back our in-person students to our school campuses on September 8th!

It is going to be a great year!

Sincerely,
Holly McClurg, Ph.D.
Superintendent
