Message from the Superintendent

Dear DMUSD Families,

As 2020 comes to a close, we can reflect on the great things happening across DMUSD. This fall has been eventful, that’s for sure! Just as everywhere, we have had to tackle tough decisions, and we can be so proud of our students, teachers, staff, and families who have adjusted to the realities of learning in the midst of a global pandemic, whether it be in-person or virtually. With tremendous effort on the part of every individual, we know we are not just surviving, we are thriving! And we could not do it without our supportive and involved families.  Although the pandemic has limited our ability to engage in many ways, the support from our community has been felt by all of us in DMUSD every step of the way.

After extensive planning, our district was one of the first public school districts in the state of California to open up to full time in-person school for all students, and we are still the only district in San Diego County to have full-time in-person school and a top-quality distance learning program (Launch).  In DMUSD, we are known to be leaders in education, and this is an example of our collective commitment to doing the right thing for children.

On behalf of our entire District and our Governing Board of Trustees, we wish you Happy Holidays and a bright 2021!

Sincerely,

Holly McClurg, Ph.D.
Superintendent
