Principal's Weekly Message

Hello CDM Families,

Just writing to remind everyone there will be no school next week, February 17th-21st, due to the Presidents’ Days Holidays and some local release days.  I hope you and yours have an enjoyable February Break filled with good times, family and friends. I hope you and yours have a safe, relaxing and recharging week off.  We’ll see you back here on Monday, February 24th, sometime before the 8:00am bell rings.

And now, for some important dates and information…

Important dates/events at CDM this week:

  • February Break:  February 17th-21st – There will be no school next week due to observance of Presidents’ Days and Local Release Days.  We will return to school on Monday, February 24th.


Important information at CDM:

  • CDM’s 5th Annual Art Show:  Entries due February 27th & 28th – This year’s theme is, “Nothing is Impossible.”  Our dragons can share their interpretation of this theme via paintings, drawings, photographs, and sculptures.  Please read the attached flyer for more information.


From our PTA:

  • CDM Used Book Sale: Calling for all your old books!  Our annual CDM Used Book Sale will take place during conference week (March 16-20th).  All proceeds from this sale will benefit the CDM Library.  Used books will be collected beginning Monday, March 2nd - the start of the sale on Monday, March 16th.  We will have bins available for drop off in front of the library. We also need volunteers to support this event. Please sign up to help at:


  • CDM's Annual Art Night: Thursday, March 5th: All students (K-6) are invited to participate in our annual CDM Art Night.  Students may submit paintings, drawings, photographs and sculptures based on our theme, "Nothing is Impossible." The collection of artwork is due by Friday, Feb 29th.  The PTA will display the work in the MUR and host our event on Thursday, March 5th. Flyers with additional information went home this past week.  If you have any questions contact our Art Night chairperson, Maryann Fernandes at


  • Dragon Ball: Come dance with us on Sunday, March 29th!  Dragon Ball is an annual event available to all CDM families. It is a fun dance available to any CDM student and their chaperone, no longer just for fathers and daughters as in years past.  Each student attends with a chaperone or family member.  For more information please click here.


  • Box Tops for Education: Scanning your store receipts is easy! Download the Box Top App at the Apple Store or Google Play Store. Scan your receipt containing at least one eligible Box Top product within 14 days of purchase. CDM has received over $7000 over the years with this collection. You can also still turn in your paper Box Tops; many will expire in March 2020. Thank you for all your submissions so far this year!


From our DMSEF Representatives:

  • CDM Jog-a-Thon – Wednesday, March 4th.  Our annual Jog-a-thon is off to a GREAT start!  Thank you to all of the families who have signed up and already made contributions - you are certainly helping us get closer to meeting our goal of $75,000!  And thank you especially to the families who donated by this past Thursday evening - you were entered to win a Panini Kabob Grill gift certificate.  We would like to congratulate the winner – the Guss family!

          Remember, if you are signing up more than 1 student, you will create a separate fundraising account and page for each              of them.

·               Students were having fun winning prizes from the “Bucket of Awesomeness” this past week!  And, for the pizza parties,                        currently, Ms. Zachary’s and Ms. Elena’s classes are still in the lead!

          And, remember, Coach Brand has offered a special PE party to the first class to reach $3,000.  Mr. Cameron’s class is                        currently in the lead, with almost $1,000 raised!  

          And, 6th graders, don’t forget—you can win a special movie and popcorn party if your collective class reaches 60%                              participation.  So, remember to register, send those emails, and fundraise!
