Principal's Weekly Message


CDM Families:

Last Thursday, we celebrated and learned together at our annual STEAM+ Family Night. On this evening it was wonderful to see our students engage in virtually climbing sequoia trees, gazing at the moon with high-powered telescopes, interacting with morph cubes, balancing their bodies and cups in a variety of ways and exploring the artistic challenges of balance in sculpture creation. Personally, I loved seeing our community gather around the food trucks and open areas, chatting about the year and deepening our connections as a community. Thank you to all the staff and community members who helped to make this event a success. Our DMUSD Superintendent visited our event and shared that it was “magical,” and it truly was.

Only one more week until our February break. Let’s make it a great one CDM!

Principal’s Coffee and PTA Meeting: Feb. 13th, 8:00-9:00 CDM Library

For this upcoming Principal’s Coffee, I will be hosting an open feedback session where parents will have the ability to generate the topics of discussion. If you have something to chat about or would like to learn more about something occurring at our school or in our district, please join me on this morning. We will also have a PTA meeting to share information about our current programs and school purchases. Stop by after drop-off for a cup of coffee and conversation. See you then!

DMSEF Fundraising Campaign Update: Thank You from DMSEF

On behalf of Del Mar Schools Education Foundation, we wanted to thank all of you for coming to STEAM+ Night and making the night so special.  We especially want to thank all of our volunteers who made the night seamless, the PTA for all of their support, all the teachers who took time from their busy schedules to volunteer and, of course, a BIG THANK YOU to Mrs. Peck, Mrs. Munoz, Mrs. Nelson, Mrs. Wolfertz and Coach Brand who provided the vision and donated countless hours to showcase how meaningful STEAM+ is to the students at Carmel Del Mar.  We hope you enjoyed the night as much as we did!

Thanks to your efforts, we raised over $12,000 for this giving campaign.  The grade that raised the most was Kindergarten.  Congratulations Kindergarteners!  You will receive a popsicle party and extra recess!  Way to go!

That being said, we are not done fundraising yet!  Carmel Del Mar is at 23% of their goal.  If you haven’t donated already, please consider donating today at
