Katherine Fitzpatrick
Term: 2018-2022
Katherine is a native of Del Mar, graduating from Del Mar Heights in 1990. After living in different parts of San Diego and Mexico, she returned to Del Mar with her husband James in 2012. They are the proud parents of two daughters and a son, all of whom will soon attend Del Mar schools.
Katherine attended Del Mar Heights, Earl Warren, and Torrey Pines High School. She received her BA from UCSD in Latin American Studies with a minor in Spanish Literature. She completed an undergraduate study abroad program in Mexico City. She received a Bilingual Multiple Subject Credential through SDSU, also through a unique study abroad program in Queretaro, Mexico. She earned a Pupil Personnel Services Credential and MS in Educational Counseling from National University.

Katherine has served in the field of education for over ten years, working in a variety of schools and settings throughout San Diego County and Mexico. She taught first grade in Poway Unified at a dual-immersion school, worked as a school counselor and at-risk intervention coordinator at Hoover High School in San Diego Unified, and before going on parental leave, taught high-school Spanish for five years at University City High School. 

Community Service:
Katherine is an active member of the California Coastkeeper Alliance, participating in various beach preservation efforts. She is involved with the Del Mar Foundation and contributes to Doctors Without Borders.

Board Responsibilities:
Katherine is serving her first term as an elected member of the school board. She is currently serving as the Board representative to the Legislative Action Network (LAN) and alternates with other members as Board Liaison to the Del Mar Schools Education Foundation (DMSEF).
