Marisa Janicek serves as Superintendent of the Del Mar Union School District, where she leads with a deep commitment to innovation, inclusion, and learner-centered education. Ms. Janicek has more than two decades of experience in public education at all levels, including both upper and lower grades as well as Special Education, and English Language Learners. She is dedicated to ensuring that every DMUSD student thrives in an environment that nurtures curiosity, creativity, and connection to the natural world.

Before joining Del Mar Union School District, Ms. Janicek served as Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services in the El Segundo Unified School District, leading initiatives in equity, AI literacy, and professional learning that earned national recognition for innovation and excellence.

Ms. Janicek holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from San José State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies from California State University, Chico, and she is currently completing her Doctorate in Educational Leadership.

Outside of work, Ms. Janicek enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and their dog, hiking, exploring local beaches, and appreciating the beauty of nature. She especially treasures the times when their children are home from school and the whole family can enjoy those moments together.
